Miracle Mia: Baby born with cyst the size of a melon on her face

Gorgeous Mia Molyneux who was a cute baby and a miracle baby as well, because she was born with a huge cyst the size of a melon on the side of her face and survives life-saving surgery. It was bigger than her head, and weighed half as much as she did.

Michaela, 20 years old who was a mother of Mia found out that she was pregnant and she was so eager to find out the sex of her baby through scan tests. However, the first-time mum was told her baby had a huge swelling on the side of her face and it was expected she’d be born with severe disabilities. As a result Michaela was advised to terminate the pregnancy but she rejected it and wanting to give her unborn baby a chance.

So Michaela was booked in for a C-section at Liverpool Women's Hospital, and 18 doctors and nurses were in the room when Mia was born. She was hurried to intensive care after her lung collapsed minutes after birth.

Though, little Mia was only six days old when doctors determined to operate and warned Michaela that the surgery was risky, saying if she started bleeding she might not live. She incredibly survived after the nine hours of exhausting surgery to remove cyst on Mia’s face. During the surgery she was pumped full of 96 pints of blood to remain her tiny body alive. After the operation Mia was kept back in intensive care until she was permitted to go home at 20 weeks old.

Michaela said that “I was absolutely terrified when I found out Mia had something wrong with her. But when she was born I fell in love with her instantly. When I looked at her I saw my baby girl alive, not the growth.”

Further she said “It was absolutely heartbreaking to see her and not being able to hold her until she was 15 days old. Mia will be scarred for life but it’s a small price to pay. When her bandages came off after the surgery I used to still wrap her up in them when we went outside because I was worried what people would think. Now I don't, she's been through so much and I'm so proud of her.

The World's Oldest Person - Dina Manfredini

Dina Manfredini from Des Moines, Iowa, USA was officially making known as the world oldest living person according to the world’s Guinness records 2012. She was in 115 year old when she places this world record.

Manfredini was born in Italy on April 4th, 1897 who was primarily a mother and homemaker, but had taken a job later time cleaning houses up until the age of 90. She came to the U.S. with her husband, Riccardo in 1920 and they raised four children, before Riccardo died in 1965.

"I'm old, old lady, but I work. Work hard. I like work," she said. Dina lived independently until she was 110 years old, when she then reposition to a nursing home in Johnston, Iowa.

Members of the world’s record committee confirmed that Dina Manfredini is the only verified Italian person to have arrived at the age of 115 in familiar history.

The previous Guinness World Record carried by Besse Cooper of Georgia but she passed away at the age of 116. Dina Manfredini was the second oldest person on record, so she will now obtain the title.

The Longest Interval between birth of Twins - 87 Days Apart

Irish twins Amy and Katie have been called as "Miracles" because they are set for the Guinness Book of Records after they were incredibly born 87 days apart. The twin girls are now to set the Guinness World Record for the "longest interval between the birth of twins".

Maria Jones-Elliott, 34, gave birth to her twin daughter Amy three months early, June 1, 2012 who weighed just 1lb 3oz but her next twin daughter Katie who weighed 5lb 10oz was not born until August 27, 2012 almost three months later. (Another 87 days)

Doctors have told Ms Jones-Elliot and her husband, Chris, they have achieved the medical equivalent of winning the lottery after both girls survived.

Maria, who has two other children, told how she was ragged between joy and worry after Amy’s dangerously early arrival as Katie stayed in her womb, clinging to survival.

“I call the girls our little miracles,” she said. “As I held Amy for the first time I stroked my bump and prayed to God. I just wanted my girls to be together and safe and well. “Usually you experience nothing but joy at the birth of a new baby, but it was so achingly bitter-sweet as both of their lives hung in the balance.

Further she said “Amy was fighting for life in an incubator and Katie was struggling to survive in my womb. It was the hardest three months of our lives. But Chris kept saying, ‘Where there’s life there’s hope.”

The previous Guinness world record for longest interval between birth of twins was set by Peggy Lynn of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, Lynn gave birth to her twin girl and boy, Hanna and Eric, 84 days apart between the years of 1995 and 1996.

"Sponge Bob", The World’s Fattest Cat

A cat named as “Sponge Bob”, New York, USA, sets a world record as a “Fattest cat" or "The World's Heaviest Cat”. He's nine-years-old and weighs an incredible 30 pounds, the same as a four year old child.

Two months ago, Sponge Bob’s previous owner went into hospice and left the nine-year-old cat with Animal Haven, a non-profit cat and dog shelter on Centre Street in Soho.

Kendra Mara, Animal Haven's associate director, said "Sponge Bob came to us when his owner went into a nursing home. "We opened up the carrier and about ten to 15 people stood around staring at him for quite a long time, because he's the largest cat we've ever seen.  "We don't know how he became so big. We can only guess that his owner, because he was ill, was feeding him dry food on a regular basis, maybe just leaving it out, so he was able to eat whenever he wanted."

She said further "It is pretty abnormal for a cat to be able to get this big. But he has had blood work and doesn't have hyperthyroidism or anything so it appears to be just from eating."

He’s so big he can’t clean himself and struggles to walk. Dedicated staff at Animal Haven in New York came up with exercises to encourage Sponge Bob to move, helping him shed 3lbs in just two months.

Sponge Bob now belongs to Courtney and Matthew Farrell, a young newlywed couple living on the Upper East Side. Mrs. Farrell said that she and her husband started to play with the idea of getting a cat once they were married. When reading about the Sponge Bob they believed that they had found the perfect match.

“We’re going to whip him into shape,” promised Mr. Farrell when asked about the cat’s health. He and his wife both exercise regularly and believe in promoting healthy lifestyles.

The previous record holder was Meow, a 2-year-old orange and white tabby tips the scale at 39.1 pounds (nearly 18kg) a weight that is equal to a 600 pound human who died of pulmonary failure.

Tallest Horse in the World – Big Jake

Big Jake, 11-year-old Belgian gelding has made it into the Guinness World Records Book for 2013 as the tallest living horse. He owned this record with an official six feet, ten and three-quarter inches tall. In horse world talk, he is tall around 20 hands 2.75 inches tall (210.19 cm, 82.75 in), without shoes. Big Jake weighs 2,600 lbs and eats a bale and a half of hay a day plus 40 quarts of oats.

His owner Jerry Gilbert of Smokey Hollow Farm (Ostego, Michigan, USA) says that, "He was extremely hard to hold on to when he was young and when I would turn him outside sometimes he would take me with him!" but now he is older " He is friendly with all the other animals and has a great temperament and works hard when he is harnessed to a wagon." As a celebrity, Big Jake has a huge following.  According to Gilbert, the big Belgian is good with people and people are astonished when they see how big he is. Further he said “We are proud to hold the record and enjoy the people who visit the farm and we enjoy the reactions and when people leave our farm happy from the experience of seeing Jake.”

The previous record belonged to a Clydesdale in Texas named Remington, whose official measurement was exactly 20 hands. The two and three-quarter inches made Big Jake eligible for the world’s record.
Big Jake was named the World’s Tallest Living Horse in 2010 and 2011. He was officially listed in the Guinness World Record Book September 2013 as the tallest living horse in the world.

Longest Snake Ever in Captivity - Medusa

A python named as Medusa recorded to the Guinness world records 2013 by holding a title called longest snake ever in captivity. She is long 7.67 meters (25 feet 2 inches) and weighs 158.8 kilogram (350-pound) and needs at least 15 people to hold her.

This Python owned by Full Moon Productions in Kansas City, Missouri, USA. The reptile, lives in the Edge of Hell haunted house attraction in Kansas City, and it needs about 40lb animal in a week but could easily eat something weighing more than 100lbs.

The python’s diet consists of a mixture of rabbits, hogs and deer, served to her every two weeks. The 8 years old reptile is known as ‘the sloppiest eater within attraction’, who accidentally bite into herself instead of her dinner.

According to Medusa's handler and Edge of Hell's general manager, Larry Edgar, "We try to keep Medusa well-fed and slightly out of reach as there have been instances with Reticulated Pythons where they've had to cut people out of them! We never underestimate that she does always have the upper-hand."

Medusa inherits the title from the previous record holder, Fluffy, another Reticulated Python from Ohio's Columbus Zoo who measured in at 24 ft long. The reptile was 18 years old and still 24 ft long and died of an apparent tumor.

The Reticulated Python species dates back to the prehistoric era and is one of the largest snakes on the globe.

A Baby Girl (Audrina Cardenas) Born with her Heart outside

Audrina Cardenas, a baby girl who was born October 15, 2012, with a rare genetic deformity known as "ectopia cordis", in which part of the heart grows outside the chest. This condition affect for one person out of 8 million people in the world and nine patients out of 10 patients who affected this condition was dying in birth or after the first three days of birth.

But showing a miracle this baby girl survived after the unbelievable six-hour, open-heart surgery the day after Audrina's delivery conducted by multidisciplinary team of surgeons in Texas Children's Hospital,  where they reconstructed her chest cavity to make space for the one-third of her heart that was outside of her body.

Audrina wearing a pink chest shield made by doctors because the heart doesn’t protected by the breastplate and surrounding tissue and exposed to the outside world is very vulnerable to infections.
Cardenas's mother Ashley Cardenas told that she knew about her daughter's condition when she was 16 weeks pregnant.

"They gave me the option to terminate the pregnancy, continue with the pregnancy and do something called comfort care at the time of delivery, where instead of doing anything painful to her or do surgery they let you spend as much time with her until she passes, or opt for a high-risk surgery to help repair the heart. As soon as I made my decision to continue with the pregnancy, the physicians in Midland referred me to Texas Children's Hospital where a team of miracle workers provided the specialized treatment and care my baby and I both needed," she said. Further she articulated her gratitude for the team of doctors that worked determinedly to save her daughter's life.

The World’s Tallest Dog – Zeus

Zeus, measuring 44 inches (111.8 cm) Great Dane from foot to withers has been officially titled as a World’s Tallest Dog ever by Guinness World Records 2013. Zeus weighs 155 pounds and eats a 30 pound (14 Kilogram) bag of food every two weeks. Three years old Zeus from Otsego, Michigan in the United States exhibits surprising height of 7 feet 4 inches (2.2 meters) when he standing on his hind legs.

Zeus’s owner Denise Doorlag from Michigan said most people often asked that “Hey do you have a saddle for that horse?” or “Is that a dog or is that a pony?” and she added further it’s fun to see people’s reactions, especially little kids that they think that he really is a horse. Also she said that their family was grateful by their pet’s place in the Guinness Book of World Records, launched on September 13, 2012.

 

Zeus broke the previous Guinness World’s Record held by another Great Dane named Giant George, with one inch. George measured as 43 inches (110 cm) from foot to withers. Nova, a Great Dane, who's 2 feet, 11.51 inches tall (35.51 inches from paw to shoulder), is recorded as the world's tallest female dog, according to Guinness World Records.

Female with the Longest Fingernails - Chris “The Dutchess” Walton

The 45 year old rock singer from Las Vegas namely as Chris “The Dutchess” Walton holds the 2012 Guinness World Records for having 19 feet, 9 inches long of nails on both hands. Long measure 10 feet 2 inches on her left hand and 9 feet 7 inches on her right hand. She stopped cutting her nails 19 years ago and carefully manicured them to reach a total length.

There’s no doubt that we all have a same question to ask from her, how she can do her day to day work with these long fingernails. Chris gave a nice reply for this question when in an interview with New York Daily news. She said “It’s kind of like a body part I was born with and now I don’t know what I would do without them”.

 

Also she claims that that the nails do not create an inconvenience and that she can cook, clean, drive and wash with ease with 5 children at home. She even text using her knuckles and even play the piano and use the computer with the nails. The only problem she has encountered is that she has to adjust her clothing to get her nails. Further she said that she didn't grow her nails deliberately to set a Guinness record because she liked the way nails looked the day she stopped cutting her nails and let they just kept growing. She lost a nail once, when fixing her car engine on the freeway, and otherwise has no trouble leading a normal life.

 

The previous female record holder for the longest nails was Lee Redmond of Salt Lake City. Her nails measured a combined total 28 feet in 2008 but she lost her nails in a car crash in 2009.

Melvin Booth, an American consider as a male owner of the world's longest fingernails with 29 feet, 8 inches long fingernails. He passed away in 2009.
